Step 1 of 5 · Choose a planOpen SWTCH from Apps in your Shopify admin. Start on Free, or pick a paid plan with a 14-day trial. Billing runs through Shopify.

Before you start

  • A Shopify store on an Online Store 2.0 theme (Dawn and most current themes)
  • Products with a Color option, or one product per color
  • Permission to edit your theme

Setup steps

  1. Install SWTCH and choose a plan

    Apps › SWTCH › Plans

Install SWTCH and approve the permissions it asks for. Start on Free, or choose a paid plan to begin a 14-day free trial. Charges appear on your regular Shopify bill.

  2. Set your exact colors

SWTCH › Swatch design › Colors

SWTCH reads your variant names and matches common colors like Navy or Olive automatically. For anything it can't recognize, add the name and a hex value or upload an image, such as a fabric pattern.

Use an image swatch for prints and textures. A square crop of the fabric reads better than a single color.
  3. Choose a shape and sold-out style

SWTCH › Swatch design › Shape

Pick circle, square, rounded or pill swatches and decide how sold-out options appear: struck through, faded or hidden. Size and other text options become buttons that match.

  4. Add the Swatches block to your product page

Online Store › Themes › Customize › Product page › Add block › Apps › Swatches

From the SWTCH home page, click Add to theme next to Swatches; the theme editor opens with the block ready. Drag it where your theme's variant picker sits, then hide the theme's own picker so shoppers see one set of options. Click Save.

Add Linked colors the same way if you link separate color products in the next step.
  5. Group products sold as separate colors

SWTCH › Product groups › Suggested

If you list each color as its own product, open Suggested. SWTCH proposes groups based on product titles; click Link to accept. Each product page then shows bubbles that link to the other colors.

  6. Add size charts and photo captions

    SWTCH › Size charts

Create a size chart and choose the products it applies to. A Size guide link appears next to the size picker. Under Photo captions, add fit notes like the model's height and size. Both are on Starter and up.

  7. Turn on collection swatches (optional)

Online Store › Themes › Customize › App embeds › Collection swatches

On Growth and Pro, switch on the Collection swatches app embed to show swatches under each product card on collection pages.

After setup

  • Check a product with a sold-out color to confirm the sold-out style.
  • Open Analytics after a week to see which colors get the most clicks.
  • Use Bulk CSV on Growth to set colors for a large catalog at once.

Troubleshooting

I see two variant pickers on the product page.

Hide your theme's variant picker block in the theme editor (click the eye icon next to it) and save. SWTCH replaces it.

A color shows as a gray circle.

SWTCH couldn't match that color name. Add it under Swatch design → Colors with a hex value or image.

The block isn't in the Apps list.

Make sure you're editing a product template on an Online Store 2.0 theme. Vintage themes don't support app blocks.
